How Our Scholarship Process Works

Step-by-step guidance to help students secure educational funding.

Registration

The process begins with the registration of the student candidate on the following website: www.polyfacinternational.com. There, the student candidate, who must be a citizen of Haiti at the time of registration, selects one or two countries where he or she would like to pursue a scholarship, along with up to three programs of interest. The student candidate must provide proof of legal residency in at least one of the selected countries. If he or she does not have legal residency in the selected country, a housing sponsor will be required. That sponsor will be contacted and must also provide proof of legal residency in the country of scholarship. Otherwise, the registration will not be validated. We currently do not accept housing sponsors for the United States. Therefore, any student candidate applying for programs offered in the United States must already have legal residency in that country.

Please note that registration fees are non-refundable.

Online Testing

Once registered and validated, the student candidate will be directed to designated learning websites to prepare for the online test. Only the best candidates will be selected. The learning period is a minimum of 3 months from the date of validation. If the student fails the test on the first attempt, he or she may request a second attempt in writing. However, a new learning period of at least 3 months will be required before retaking the test. We strongly encourage student candidates to take the online test seriously and study diligently, as the exam is challenging. Our main learning website is www.laculturegenerale.com. We will ensure that the student candidate is registered on that website once the application is validated.

Ready to travel

Some candidates will not need to travel to participate in our program because they are already legal residents of the country of scholarship. However, most students will need to travel from their country of residence to the country where the program is offered. In such cases, the student candidate must have a valid passport and sufficient financial means to cover airfare and other related costs. University Without Borders will cover tuition during the study period, as well as graduation and visa fees.

Written Commitment

Before admission into the program, every selected student must submit an essay explaining how they intend to use their acquired knowledge to help rebuild Haiti. Additionally, they must sign a formal and legally binding agreement to return to Haiti upon graduation. This is the final step of the selection process. Scholarships will only be granted to students who demonstrate a clear commitment to becoming assets to Haiti after graduation. Any student who fails to return after graduating will be required to reimburse all expenses paid by University Without Borders, plus interests.

For Student/Applicant

Who can apply for Sponsorship?

Any Haitian student from anywhere in the world between the ages of 19 and 29, who has completed High School or who is in the last year of High School, can apply for sponsorship. The applicant needs to have a Housing Sponsor in the country or countries selected if not already a legal resident there. Students who want to apply for a scholarship in the United States need to have legal status in that country to be considered. As of now, we do not accept Housing Sponsorship in the United States.

How do students qualify for sponsorship?

To qualify for sponsorship, the Haitian student must register online at a separate website: www.polyfacinternational.com. A registration fee is required. In the application, the student/applicant must provide:

Proof of age (19 - 29 years old)
Proof of address (Valid Government Identification card)
Proof of academic level (High School diploma or a letter of certification by the school if currently in the final year of High School) – Documents about academic level need to be in French, English or Spanish to be considered.

If the student/applicant is not a legal resident of the selected country or countries, he or she must have a Housing Sponsor there.

Once the application has been reviewed and approved, the candidate will receive an email with further instructions. Applications will be denied in cases of document forgery, misrepresentation, or fraud and as a result, registration fees will not be refunded. Except in rare exceptions, our Registration fees are not refundable. We strongly encourage applicants to ensure that all documents and information submitted are authentic and accurate to the best of their knowledge. University Without Borders enforces a Zero-Tolerance Policy regarding fraud.

After a student’s application is approved, the testing or evaluation process will begin. The student will be directed to specific learning websites to prepare for the online test. He or she will have a minimum of three months to study. The online test contains 80 questions and must be completed within two hours. Our scholarship program is based only merit. Only the best candidates will be selected. Just paying a Registration fee does not guarantee that you will be selected in the program.

Once an applicant is selected, he or she must prepare to travel abroad if not already residing in the chosen country. Airfares and any other travel costs are the responsibility of the applicant. University Without Borders covers only visa fees, school tuition fees and graduation fees.

The process is considered complete only when the student graduates, returns to Haiti, and gets involved in economic or educational activities in the country. If the student does not comply with this commitment, he or she will be required to reimburse all expenses paid by University Without Borders.

Who is a Financial Sponsor and How does Financial Sponsorship work?

Financial Sponsors are any donor, individual or business who supports financially University Without Borders. The Financial Sponsor can make his or her donations online or with a bank check mailed to our mailing address. University without Borders does not accept Cash or Zelle. We do not have a Zelle account. If a Financial Sponsor decides to pay directly to the school, he or she is more than welcome to do so.

Is my financial sponsorship Tax-deductible?

What kind of guarantees does the Sponsor have that his or her financial Support will be used for the purpose of Education to underprivileged young Haitians?

Our actions are based on three main values : Integrity, Excellence and Dignity. Our books will be open at any time to any major sponsor who wants to make sure their contribution is managed properly. We will have Financial Audits every year, and we will make sure we stay compliant with the IRS. Should a Financial Sponsor require that we comply with his or her own rules, we will do so as long as that does not affect our Integrity and Dignity.
